Kathy Fenelon, Regional VP, Quality Improvement Initiatives, American Stroke Association, (pictured left) presents Michael Waters, M.D., Ph.D., UF neurologist and Shands at UF Stroke Program director, with the Gold Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart/American Stroke Association. The award symbolizes the program’s commitment to evidence-based stroke guidelines that have been proven to provide superior clinical outcomes, increased survival rates and improved quality of life for stroke patients. The Stroke Program also received the Target: Stroke Honor Role this year, an elevated distinction for which current Get with the Guidelines Stroke Achievement Award-winning hospitals are eligible.

“To attain this level of performance at UF&Shands is a testament to the dedicated professionals who remain committed to providing the best care to our patient population and the teamwork they consistently demonstrate,” said Waters.
